ஆர்.கே.சேகர் [இசையமைப்பாளர்]

மலையாளம், தமிழ் உள்ளிட்ட மொழிகளில் 52 படங்களுக்கு நேரடியாக இசையமைத்துள்ளார். 100 படங்களுக்கு மேல் வி.குமார், எம்.கே.அர்ஜுனன், எம்.பி.ஸ்ரீநிவாசன் போன்ற பல்வேறு இசையமைப்பாளர்களுக்கு உதவியாளராக

இருந்துள்ளார். ஏ.ஆர்.ரஹ்மானின் தந்தை இவர். இவரது முழுப்பெயர் ராஜகோபால் குலசேகர் என்பதாகும். சென்னையை அடுத்த திருவள்ளூர் மாவட்டம், கீழாநூரில் 21.6.1933 அன்று பிறந்தவர். 1976 செப்டம்பர் 30 அன்று தனது 43 ஆவது வயதில் நோய்வாய்ப்பட்டு சிகிட்சை பலனின்றி மரணமடைந்தார்.

மைலாப்பூர் கோவிலில் பஜனை செய்பவராகயிருந்தவர் சேகரின் தந்தை ராஜகோபால பாகவதர். மலையாள நாடகங்களுக்கு இசையமைத்துக்கொண்டு தனது இசை வாழ்க்கையைத் துவங்கினார். மலையாளத்தில் பிரபல  இசையமைப்பாளராக விளங்கிய எம்.பி.ஸ்ரீநிவாசனின் உதவியாளராக மலையாளத் திரையுலகில் நுழைந்தார். அதைத் தொடர்ந்து மூத்த இசையமைப்பாளர்கள் வி.தக்ஷிணாமூர்த்தி, எம்.கே.அர்ஜுனன் ஆகியோருக்கும் உதவியாளராக இருந்தார். இந்தியாவில் மிகப் பிரபலமான இசையமைப்பாளராக இருந்தாலும் 1964-ஆம் ஆண்டில்தான் இவர் முதன்முதலாக ‘பழஸிராஜா’, என்ற மலையாளப் படத்தின் மூலமாக தனியாக இசையமைத்தார். குஞ்ஞாகோ என்ற பிரபல இயக்குநர் இயக்கிய சரித்திரக் கதைதான் பழஸிராஜா. இப்படத்தின் அனைத்துப் பாடலகளும் மிகவும் பிரபலமடைந்தன. தொடர்ந்து ‘ஆயிஷா’, ‘டாக்ஸி கார்’, ’யுத்த பூமி’, ‘’திருவாபரணம்’ ‘தாமிரபரணி’, ‘வெளிச்சம் அகலே’, குட்டிச்சாத்தான், ‘பெண்படா”, ‘தாமரத்தோணி’, ‘பிரியே நினக்கு வேண்டி’, ‘பட்டாபிஷேகம்’, ‘கண்டவருண்டோ’, ‘மிஸ் மேரி’ போன்ற 22 படங்களுக்கு இசையமைத்தார். 1977 ஆம் ஆண்டில் வெளிவந்த ’சோட்டாணிக்கரை அம்மா” என்ற படமே இவர் இசையமைத்த கடைசிப்படம். இப்படத்தில் முழு வேலைகளும் முடிக்கப்படாதிருந்த நிலையில் உடல் நலிவுற்று மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டார். இப்படம் வெளியான அன்றுதான் இவர் மரணமடைந்தார். இவர் விட்டுச்சென்ற பணிகளை இவரது நெருங்கிய நண்பரான இசையமைப்பாளர் எம்.கே.அர்ஜுனன் நிவர்த்தி செய்துகொடுத்தார். எம்.கே.அர்ஜுனன் முதன்முதலாக இசையமைத்த படத்திலிருந்து சேகர் மரணமடைந்தது வரை அவரது உதவியாளராக இருந்தார். இவர் பிரபலமாக இருந்ததையும், இவரது அபார வளர்ச்சியையும் பொறுத்துக்கொள்ளமுடியாத இவரது எதிராளிகள் மந்திரவாதம் செய்து சாகடித்ததாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது.

இவரது 31-ஆம் வயதில் கஸ்தூரி [பின்னாளில் கரீமா பேகம்] என்பவருடன் திருமணம் நடந்தது. இத்தம்பதிக்கு ஏ.ஆர். ரெஹானா, ஏ.ஆர்.ரஹ்மான், பாத்திமா ரஃபீக், இஷ்ரத்காத்ரே என்ற நான்கு குழந்தைகள். ஆர்.கே.சேகரின் மரணத்திற்குப் பின் இவரது மனைவி,மக்கள் அனைவரும் இஸ்லாம் மதத்திற்கு மாறினர்.

രാജഗോപാൽ കുലശേഖർ (ആർ.കെ. ശേഖർ; 1933 ജൂൺ 21 – 1976 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 30) മലയാളത്തിലെ പ്രശസ്ത ചലച്ചിത്രസംഗീത സംവിധായകനായിരുന്നു. 23 മലയാളചിത്രങ്ങൾക്കും നിരവധി തമിഴ് ചിത്രങ്ങൾക്കും അദ്ദേഹം ഈണം പകർന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതിനു പുറമേ നൂറുകണക്കിന് ചിത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് മ്യൂസിക് കണ്ടക്ടറായും അറേയ്ഞ്ചറായും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു. ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രഗല്ഭ സംഗീതജ്ഞനായി വിലയിരുത്തപ്പെടുന്ന എ.ആർ. റഹ്‌മാൻ മകനാണ്.

ചെന്നൈക്കടുത്ത് കിഴാനൂരില് 1933 ജൂൺ 21ന് ജനിച്ചു. മൈലാപ്പൂർ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഭജന പാട്ടുകാരനായിരുന്നു ശേഖറിന്റെ പിതാവ്. മലയാള നാടകങ്ങൾക്കു സംഗീതം നിർവ്വഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് ശേഖർ കരിയർ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. മ്യൂസിക് കണ്ടക്ടറും അറേയ്ഞ്ചറുമായി ചലച്ചിത്രരംഗത്തും സജീവമായി. ഇന്ത്യയിലാകെ പ്രശസ്തനായിരുന്നിട്ടും ശേഖർ ആദ്യം ഈണമിട്ടത് മലയാളത്തിൽ. 1964ൽ പഴശ്ശിരാജയിൽ. കുഞ്ചാക്കോയുടെ ഈ ചരിത്രസിനിമയിലെ എല്ലാ ഗാനങ്ങളും സൂപ്പർ ഹിറ്റുകളായി. പിന്നീടങ്ങോട്ട് 22 സിനിമകൾ. ഇവയിൽ ആയിഷ, ടാക്സികാർ, യുദ്ധഭൂമി, തിരുവാഭരണം, താമരഭരണി എന്നീ ചിത്രങ്ങളിലെ ഗാനങ്ങൾ ഏറെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. ഗാനങ്ങളെക്കാൾ ഹോളിവുഡ് നിലവാരം പുലർത്തിയ പശ്ചാത്തലസംഗീതമാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ശ്രദ്ധേയനാക്കിയത്. 1977ലെ ചോറ്റാനിക്കര അമ്മയായിരുന്നു അവസാന സിനിമ. ഈ സിനിമ റിലീസായ ദിവസം തന്നെയായിരുന്നു ശേഖറിന്റെ മരണം,നാൽപ്പത്തിമൂന്നാം വയസിൽ. പ്രശസ്തിയുടെ കൊടുമുടിയിൽ നിൽക്കുമ്പോഴായിരുന്നു ഇത്. ആകസ്മികമായ ഈ മരണത്തെ ചുറ്റിപ്പറ്റി അനവധി കഥകളും പ്രചരിച്ചു. എതിരാളികൾ ദുർമന്ത്രവാദം നടത്തിയതുമൂലമാണ് അദ്ദേഹം മരിച്ചതെന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു

മുപ്പത്തൊന്നാം വയസിൽ വിവാഹം. ഭാര്യ കസ്തൂരി. റഹ്‌മാനുൾപ്പെടെ നാലു മക്കൾ. മൂത്ത മകൾ എ. ആർ. റയിഹാനയും ഗായികയും സംഗീതസംവിധായികയുമാണ്.

Rajagopala Kulashekhara [Tamil: ராஜகோபால குலசேகரா] (21 June 1933 – 30 September 1976) was an Indian music composer who worked mainly for Malayalam movies. He composed music for 52 films (23 in Malayalam with 127 songs), and was the music conductor for more than 100 films. He is best known as the father of music composer A. R. Rahman.

His debut song as a music director was “Chotta Muthal Chudala Vare” (“from cradle to grave”) which was a big hit in Kerala. This was composed for the film Pazhassi Raja 

He was born to Rajagopala Bhagavathar, a harikatha exponent, in a family in Tiruvallur,Tamil Nadu. His entry into film music was opened through his extra ordinary performances on harmonium for Theatre Plays. He started his career in film industry as an assistant to music director M. B. Sreenivasan. Later on he conducted, arranged music for famous Malayalam Music directors , M.K. Arjunan and V. Dakshinamoorthy. He was so much fascinated by the tunes created by these legends, that he would work very hard single-handedly to create the BGM of the songs they tuned to match its purity and standard thus making the song evergreen on par.Their association lasted till his death.

His career as an independent music composer started with the 1964 film Pazhassi Raja of which the philosophical song Chotta muthal chudala vare became a big hit. After his next work in Aisha, he turned back to arranging and conducting for other composers.

After a gap of 7 years, he returned to music composing through the film Anaathashilpangal in 1971. He composed music for Taxi Car by P. Venu in 1972. Then he went on to compose music for about 20 films. Due to the failure of these films in the box office, his songs went unnoticed and he lacked to get more opportunities for composing. His close friend in the industry was composer M. K. Arjunan. Starting from Arjunan master’s first film, Shekhar assisted him in all his films till his death. Continuous hard work made Shekhars health condition worst. In all these days, Arjunan master was the care taker of him and his family.

He composed tunes for his last film, Chottanikkara Amma when he was on bed for treatment and he died leaving the project incomplete. Later on M.K.Arjunan completed the project by arranging and recording the songs that Shekhar composed.

R.K. Shekhar was married to Kasthuri (Known as Kareema Begum after conversion to Islam). Their marriage took place in the most prominent shrine in India, the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple located in Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh in Southern India. Shekhar & Kasthuri had four children, A. R. Reihana, A. R. Rahman, Fathima Rafiq and Ishrathqadhre. Shekhar died at the age of 43.
